The Silo House is an architectural standout located in Inverloch, Victoria, where rustic character meets contemporary brilliance. Featured on Grand Designs Australia (Season 10, Episode 2), this unforgettable retreat has become one of Australia’s top 100 distinctive stays. Completed in 2020, the home welcomes holiday guests and design lovers alike.
Built on the foundations of an original cedar farmhouse, the project transforms old into new. Repurposed materials, exposed concrete, and vintage details mix seamlessly with sleek lines and modern comforts. At the heart of the living area sits the Seguin Super 9 freestanding wood fireplace, mounted on a black steel bench. Supplied by Sculpt Fireplace Collection, this bold feature delivers warmth, elegance, and a strong design statement.
The open-plan layout is generous and welcoming. High ceilings accommodate mezzanine bedrooms and converted silos, each with its own ensuite. The industrial-style kitchen flows into a large dining and living area, where guests can gather around the fire or spill out onto the deck and outdoor firepit.
Downstairs, an underground “speakeasy” lounge invites guests to unwind with a drink or a round of poker. It’s a cosy retreat within a retreat, perfect for quieter moments or late-night conversation.
Designed over three levels, Silo House sleeps up to 12 guests across four bedrooms. Every room balances comfort and creativity. From salvaged leather sofas surrounding the fireplace to panoramic views of rolling Gippsland hills, each space tells a story.
Above all, the Seguin Super 9 freestanding wood fireplace ties the home together. It offers more than heat, it creates a sense of place, connection, and timeless appeal. Silo House is more than a stay, it’s a fully immersive design experience.
