Excitement is in the air at The Big Cat Sanctuary as we announce a once-in-a-lifetime competition to be the FIRST EVER guest of the sanctuary to hand feed Sonika and Sahee, our two Asiatic lions. This unique opportunity not only allows you to get up close and personal with these majestic creatures, but also supports our ongoing efforts to improve and expand our lion habitats through Project Lion.
Asiatic lions are endangered species on the IUCN Red List, with only around 600 left in the wild. They are native to the Gir Forest in India, but their habitat has been underthreat by human activity, leading to a decline in their numbers. Here at the sanctuary, we are committed to protecting these majestic creatures and ensuring their survival for future generations.
Project Lion is a vital part of our mission to protect these magnificent animals. It involves the renovation and expansion of our lion habitats, providing them with more space and better facilities to live in. This project will not only benefit our resident African and Asiatic lions but also create a platform for educating our visitors about the importance of conservation and protection of endangered species.
The competition to hand feed Sonika and Sahee is a unique opportunity for any animal lover. The winner will get a behind-the-scenes tour of The Big Cat Sanctuary, meeting all our resident big and small cats. But the most exciting part of all, they will be the first ever guest to hand-feed of Sonika and Sahee, experiencing their power and grace up close. This once in a lifetime experience will be photographed for you to share and cherish forever.
By participating in this competition, you are not only getting the chance to feed two amazing creatures, but you are also supporting our efforts to protect and conserve the endangered Asiatic lion species. Each donation will count as one entry, and there is no limit to the number of entries you can make. The competition will close on the 1st of May, and the winner will be announced shortly after.

The Big Cat Sanctuary is pleased to announce the newest addition to the family, Kuda, a Sri Lankan Rusty Spotted Cat. Kuda is 5 years old and was born on the 30th of April 2018 at Hamerton Zoo Park. He joined us on Tuesday 13th February after a smooth 3-hour journey from Hamerton.
